Sydney

It is the British navigator James Cook who discovered the site of the city, which he named Port Jackson. Its temperate climate (warm summers and mild winters), has favored the development of very large parks and beaches along the Pacific Ocean, the most famous of those beaches are Bondi and Manly. Huge bridges (Harbour Bridge, Gladesville Bridge) spanning the bay of Port Jackson, that crosses a multitude of ferries. The ancient city is invested by the business community and is bristling with skyscrapers as Australia Square Tower, which measures over 320 m, while the rest of Sydney is mainly composed of low houses.
It is home to many cultural institutions (museums, theaters, opera) and universities. Fame Sydney (in honor of Lord Sydney, Minister of King George III) by Captain Arthur Phillip, the city became a penal colony. She experienced a dramatic growth from 1850. Sydney hosted the Summer Olympics in 2000.
